TOBA TEK SINGH: A police official has been arrested on Saturday for allegedly intimidating several accused citizens in the name of the Crime Control Department (CCD) and extorting money from them.

In the FIR, Mianchannu Saddar DSP Muhammad Siddique claimed that during an inquiry into the charges of illegally arresting and extorting money from innocent citizens, it came to light that accused Mianchannu Saddar SHO Waqar Haider, Naib Muharrar Asad Bashir and constable Mehboob Khan, with the assistance and connivance of Aurangzeb and Iftikhar Kamboh, kept Akram and Sajid, accused in a theft case, in illegal detention and threatened to hand them over to the CCD to kill them in an encounter.

It further said that the accused received huge sums of money from them in the form of recovery and besides these citizens, the police officials also took money from several other suspects including Zulfiqar, Zeeshan, Imran, Ramzan, Majid, Babar and Ayub Khan among others. It went on to say that the accused did not show the actual amount of recovery from suspects Akram and Sajid in the police official records.

The FIR said that the accused did all these actions for personal gains and the SHO and other accused committed a crime by misusing their official powers, using their official position to commit financial fraud and embezzlement and kept the accused in illegal detention.

The SHO and other police officials kept suspects in illegal detention and threatened to kill them in encounter

On the orders of Khanewal DPO Muhammad Abid, SHO Waqar Haider had been arrested and remanded in custody while raids were underway to arrest his other accomplices.

MURDER: Two men were allegedly murdered on Eid day when they were returning from the Eidgah after offering Eid prayers in Chak 141 RB Aqil Pir in Chak Jhumra tehsil of Faisalabad.

Complainant Abida Perveen claimed in her FIR that her brother Yasin and husband Riaz were on their way home after offering Eid prayers when Iftikhar along with six others, including a woman, riding on motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire on them.

The Chak Jhumra Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused persons.

ACCIDENT: Two brothers died and their pillion was seriously injured after a speeding car collided with their bike near Adda Musa Virk on the Lahore-Karachi National Highway Road in Mian Channu tehsil of Khanewal on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 said that biker Maajid (25) died instantly while his brother Hassan (33) and their 20-year-old unidentified pillion were shifted to the Mian Channu THQ Hospital. Hassan also succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The police claimed to have arrested the woman driver.

Meanwhile, a man died and three others were critically injured after a collision between a mini truck and a wheat harvester near Adda Johal on the Sheikhupura Road in Faisalabad late on Friday night.

Rescue 1122 said that the driver of the mini truck fell asleep due to which the accident took place. One of the truck riders was trapped inside the vehicle and was pulled out, however, he later succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Hashmatullah (40) and the other three injured Habib (22),Waheed (32) and Muhammad Javed (20) were shifted to the Allied Hospital.

ARREST: A man wearing a uniform similar to the police was thrashed by a mob after he was allegedly caught stealing from a power loom factory in Ghulam Muhammadabad factory area on Eid day.

ASI Muhammad Rashid claimed in the FIR that after receiving the information, police reached the spot where suspect Babar Jat was in the custody of a mob and was being beaten. He added that the suspect was rescued and shifted to the hospital while stolen electric wires worth Rs600,000 were allegedly recovered from his custody.

The same police station also claimed to have arrested a robbery suspect wearing a fake police uniform and recovered a wireless set from his custody.

Police said that suspect Azhar was arrested, however, his accomplice Sadiq managed to escape. Police claimed that both suspects were extorting money from people by introducing themselves as policemen.

Police were conducting raids to arrest his fleeing accomplice.

KILLED: A man was killed in a clash between two groups over the custodianship and distribution of collected cash from the donation box of the shrine of late Baba Syed Abdul Sattar Shah in Chak 402 Tandlianwala tehsil on Saturday.

They groups allegedly attacked each other with clubs and one Aish Bahadar Shah was killed in the clash. The family of the deceased blamed the rival group’s head, Nazar Hussain Shah, and his sons for torturing and killing the deceased.

The Tandlianwala Police were investigating the incident.

BODY FOUND: The body of a missing minor girl had been recovered by the Jhang Police near Habib Shahwala brick-kiln on the Bhakkar Road on Saturday evening.

Rescue 1122 officials said the deceased was identified as Arooj Fatima (11) daughter of Muhammad Yasin of Mouza Malluana Mor. The body had been shifted to the Jhang DHQ hospital for autopsy and police were investigating.

Meanwhile, the body of a 25-year-old unidentified woman was recovered from a deserted place outside Chak 535 GB of Faisalabad.

The Dijkot Police shifted the body to the Faisalabad DHQ Hospital for autopsy. Witnesses said the deceased’s hands and feet were tied with ropes.
