KARACHI, June 22: To cope with the ensuing monsoon season, the city government has alerted all its departments including the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.

On the instructions of the City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, the departments were asked to set up emergency centres and keep their manpower and machinery ready to cope with any untoward situation.

In this regard, the city nazim’s camp office, DCO’s Camp Office and '134' Helpline had already been declared as central emergency centres.

The city government has issued telephone numbers of these centres for the convenience of citizens.

Citizens can call; the DCO control room on 9203443-9205605, 134, 9230060, 923246216 and 16; Fire Brigade Control Room on 16, 9232416, 9232455; Fire Headquarters 9215007-8; Gulistan-i-Mustafa Fire Station 9276316-9246268; Landhi Fire Station 5015885-5015388; and the Lyari Fire Station on 2528090-2527521.

Necessary equipment will be available in these emergency centres including rescue boats, fire rescue emergency vehicles and other related machinery.

All fire brigade centres and the 134 Helpline will work directly under the supervision of the Chief Fire Officer, Masood Alam, round the clock, in three shifts.

Besides the city government staff, concerned officials of the PTCL, the KESC, Sui Gas, traffic police and other departments will also be present at the emergency centres and will be equipped with wireless sets.—PPI
