KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday issued notices to federal and provincial authorities on a petition challenging the eligibility of Kamran Tessori to hold the office of the governor of Sindh.
A two-judge constitutional bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar, also put the federal and provincial law officers on notice for March 10.
Petitioner Bux Ali Pirzado along with another, moved the SHC and submitted that Governor Tessori had become ineligible to hold the office.
The counsel for the petitioners also submitted that the office of the governor was purely a non-political position, but Mr Tessori had engaged himself in political activities during his tenure which caused division and hatred among the people of the province.
Therefore, the lawyer further argued that the incumbent governor could not hold such a prime position as he had become ineligible to stay on such a post under Article 101(2) of the Constitution.
