DERA ISMAIL KHAN/BAJAUR: Three civilians were injured after a quadcopter targeted a security forces checkpost in the limits of SMA police station in Tank district on Thursday, officials said.
According to police sources, unidentified assailants carried out an explosion at an army checkpost established at the site of the old customs pump. The projectile struck a wall of the checkpost, however, no one was harmed.
The blast affected a nearby hotel where three civilians sustained injuries. They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Tank, where they were receiving medical treatment.
District Police Officer Abdul Samad Khan said that upon receiving information about the incident, he directed the police officers concerned to reach the site to assess the security situation.
He later visited the civil hospital to inquire after the injured and instructed hospital authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care.
Meanwhile in Bajaur, a terrorist attack on a police post was repulsed, an official said on Thursday, adding that no loss of life was reported in the assault.
The police and residents said the incident occurred on Wednesday night when unidentified assailants hurled multiple hand grenades at the police post in Sadiqabad Bazaar, said to be a posh and secure area of the district, located just 3km from Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur.
“The attack on the two-storey police post building in Sadiqabad town occurred at around midnight when unknown militants targeted it with hand grenades, the sound of which was heard in and around the area,” said a senior police official.
The official told Dawn that soon after the incident, police personnel at the post effectively retaliated against the attack, forcing the attackers to flee. He added that all police personnel at the post remained safe and secure in the attack.
The overnight attack took place just two days after Monday night’s deadly terrorist assault on a security post in Malangai area of Mamund tehsil, which resulted in the martyrdom of 11 security personnel and a minor girl.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 12 terrorists were also killed in the retaliation of security forces.
