GUJAR KHAN: The much-cherished electric bus service in Gujar Khan tehsil headquarters, inaugurated on 16th February, has faced public displeasure and disappointment due to flawed selection of its stops for passenger pick-up and drop-off.

The Green Bus service operates between Sohawa tehsil headquarters, Gujar Khan, and Rawat.

This bus was allocated approximately 15 stops between Gujar Khan and T-Chowk Rawat, including Gujar Khan Adda, Al-Hijra School, Best College, Concordia College, Dera Khalsa, and Mandra Stop.

Stops also include Abdul Rehman Hospital, Fauji Foundation School, Mandra Toll Plaza, Police Training School, Chak Beli Khan Chowk, DHA Phase-III, Rawat City, and T-Chowk.

On the other side, the Gujar Khan to Sohawa route has only nine stops: Gujar Khan Adda, Guliana More, Educator School, Gujar Khan Metro, Missa Kaswal, Cadet College, Chakwal More, Honest School, and Sohawa City.

Commuters and social circles have criticised the mismanagement of administration

Members of the public and social circles have criticised the mismanagement of the Punjab Transport Company, highlighting that the Rawalpindi-bound bus stop was chosen at a short space between the city bus bay exit and the detour entry to the service road, exposing crowds waiting for the green buses to accidents.

They suggested that the bus bay at NHA, which has a spacious waiting shed and parking area for buses, was available for safe embarking and disembarking. Conversely, the chosen bus stop had shelters erected away from the most convenient point for villagers.

Stops such as Sarwar Shaheed Government College, linking to Barki Baildaran locality and students, were skipped, along with Majeed More, Chehari Dolaal, Ghungreela, Bawali More, Gulpera, Buchaa, Chawal-Mandra More, Thandi Sarhak, Harnaal, Kaliam More, Banth More, Latif Abad, the Police Station Rawat at Channi More, with Dhoke Maqadam also ignored; however, Mandra Toll Plaza was provided with a stop shed.

Similarly, on the Sohawa-Gujar Khan route, stops such as Jinna Hote, New Begaam, Baba Shaheed near Punjab College, Dhoke Sammey, and Pind Mattey Khan were utterly neglected, much to the disappointment of residents in these populous areas.

The regular commuters voiced their frustration over the journey’s end point, which is curtailed at Sagri More near Dhok Shauke, over 10 km before T-Chowk and Rawat town.

The sources in the regional transport authority (RTA) Rawalpindi, when contacted for their comment they simply indicated that these concerns had already been raised in a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi.

Following that meeting, the RTA Rawalpindi, in its letter No 366/RTA-Rwp/ dated 26th November 2025 (copy available), pointed out that disembarking passengers near Police Training School Rawat would leave them vulnerable to private transporters, raising serious objections regarding the public utility of the bus service.
