QUETTA, June 16: A restaurant and two shops were destroyed in a bomb blast in the Barkhan district’s Rakhni town on Friday. A tower of the Sibi-Harnai power transmission line was blown up near Sibi and security forces seized a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the Neligh area of Sui during an operation. A checkpost of the FC was also attacked in the Bolan area. The bomb planted inside the Noor Restaurant in the Rakhni bazaar went off when the restaurant was closed for Friday prayers, official sources said.

The restaurant and two nearby shops were destroyed. Windowpanes of other shops and buildings were also smashed.

“Some miscreants had planted a powerful explosive device inside the restaurant with a timer,” said police sources, adding that no casualty was reported in the blast.

Power supply to many areas was suspended after the tower of the Sibi-Harnai transmission line was blown up near Sibi.

Some tribesmen fired three rockets and opened indiscriminate fire at the FC checkpost near the Bibi Nani area of the Bolan district late Thursday night, officials said.

The FC personnel retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for half an hour. Later, the armed men escaped. No casualty was reported.

According to official sources, personnel of the Bhambhoor Rifles raided the Neligh area near Sui and seized 170 landmines, 250kg of high explosives and 15,350 rounds of different weapons. However, no arrest was reported.

Security forces continued the operation against miscreants in many areas of the Dera Bugti district, said sources. “Jet fighters and helicopters were seen flying over the area but there was no bombing,” they said.
