BANNU: Two personnel of Federal Constabulary were injured when unidentified assailants attacked a checkpost in the Salgazi area of Wazir subdivision here on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at Post No 4, established on a hilltop within the jurisdiction of Ahmadzai police station.

Police confirmed the attack, stating that the security forces immediately launched a search operation in the area.

The injured personnel were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

According to circle officer Wazir subdivision Raham Ayaz Khan, search operations in the surrounding hilly terrain and adjoining areas have been intensified to trace the attackers.

Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department has registered a case against unidentified terrorists for the Monday’s explosion outside the Miryan police station.

The FIR includes charges of murder, attempted murder, terrorism, provisions of the Explosives Act, and other relevant sections of the law.

According to police officials, the attackers had planted explosive material in a motorcycle parked near the main gate of the police station, which detonated with a powerful blast, taking lives of two people, including a child, while 17 others, including women, sustained injuries.

The FIR has been registered on the complaint of additional SHO Miryan police station Jamshed Ali.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a formal investigation, collecting evidence from the scene and intensifying efforts to trace the unidentified suspects.

Security officials stated that a search operation was ongoing in the area and that those involved in the attack would soon be brought to justice.
