ISLAMABAD: Different gangs of robbers shot and injured a man and stabbed another during separate robberies, while another gang abducted a man and forced him to make a bank transaction at gunpoint in Islamabad.
Cash and valuables worth over Rs9 million were looted in five separate incidents, police said.
In the first incident, gunmen shot and injured a man during a shop robbery in the Sihala area. The injured was identified as Bilal Saeed, a customer at a bakery on Khuta Road.
The incident took place when the owner, along with his staff, was dealing with customers at the bakery. Four persons riding two motorcycles raided the shop and held the owner, his staff and customers at gunpoint.
The robbers looted Rs100,000 from the cash counter, mobile phones and cash.
The robbers shot at and injured Bilal Saeed when he put up resistance and attempted to intercept the robbers.The robbers managed to escape with looted items.
In another incident, a gang of robbers stabbed and injured a man during a robbery at Faizabad. The injured was identified as Dr Mohammad Ahsan Bilal.
Two persons armed with daggers intercepted Dr Bilal and later took him to an under-construction check post adjacent to the main highway. The culprits manhandled him and looted cash and a mobile phone worth Rs820,000.
They stabbed him three times before escaping with the booty.
In a separate incident, a gang of gunmen looted and abducted a junkyard dealer and later forced him to transfer money at gunpoint from his bank account through his mobile app.
The incident took place at Athal Chowk with Zainullah. A man came to his junkyard and told him that he had some junk in the trunk of his vehicle for sale. He asked Zainullah to accompany him to examine the material.
Three more persons were present there, and when Zainullah reached the vehicle, they overpowered him and looted Rs20,000 in cash. They then bundled him into a vehicle and took him to a deserted place and forced him to operate his bank account on his mobile app at gunpoint and got Rs700,000 transferred before fleeing, leaving him at the spot.
Moreover, a gang of robbers looted cash, a motorcycle and mobile phones worth Rs730,000 from two persons at Trail 7 in Sector C-12.
Similarly, a gang of robbers looted cash and a mobile phone from a man at I-14/4. Three persons riding a motorcycle intercepted him and held him at gunpoint. They looted Rs17,000 in cash and his mobile phone before escaping.
Meanwhile, a thief stole gold biscuits worth Rs5 million from a house in DHA Phase 2. The complainant told police that a lone thief stole 10 tolas of gold biscuits kept in a cupboard.
Burglars also stole cash and gold worth Rs3.2 million from a house in G-9/2. The incident took place at the house of Nisar Ahmed when the residents had left for their native town.
