ECP sets April 5 for Khuzdar by-election

QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday announced a by-election for April 5 in National Assembly constituency NA-256 Khuzdar following the resignation of lawmaker Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

ECP said the returning officer will issue a public notice on Feb 18. Candidates may submit nomination papers from Feb 20 to Feb 24.

A preliminary list of candidates will be published on Feb 25, while scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by March 4. Appeals against the returning officer’s decisions may be filed with the appellate tribunal by March 9, and rulings on those appeals are due by March 16.
