QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced on Thursday that the government had not taken a final decision about abolishing Sherani district and its merger with any newly established administrative division.

“No final decision has been taken in this regard so far,” he said while speaking to tribal elders and local notables during his visit to Zhob. He dismissed such news circulating on social media, terming the claims contrary to fact.

He said the provincial government based its decisions on public aspirations and ground realities, stressing that no change to a district’s status would be made without consulting local representatives and residents.

CM Bugti said administrative concerns in Sherani, including the prolonged absence of certain officers and the location of the administrative headquarters, had been discussed at higher levels. He added that any ambiguities or apprehensions regarding the district would be resolved through dialogue and consultation.

Another meeting

He announced that another detailed meeting would be held with Sherani’s elected provincial assembly member, tribal elders, the local community and the district administration to conduct a comprehensive review aimed at improving governance and administrative efficiency.

He said the government’s priority was to strengthen administrative structures and expand public services, reiterating that balanced development, stability and effective governance across all districts remained key objectives.

Thanking residents for their warm reception in Zhob, CM Bugti said public trust and support were a source of pride for his government.
