QUETTA: Quetta Division Commissioner Shahzaib Khan Kakar has ordered steps to operationalise all non-functional Basic Health Units (BHUs) in the provincial capital.

Mr Kakar issued the directive at a meeting of the divisional task force on the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) held here on Wednesday. All district health officers were directed to conduct regular visits to basic health facilities to monitor attendance and the services being provided.

To enhance vaccination coverage, the commissioner instructed the establishment of fixed vaccination sites at registered private clinics and schools, and activation of services at EPI centres.

The commissioner directed strict action against absentee and poorly performing vaccinators, ordering their suspension where necessary.
