SARGODHA: The district police, during an ongoing campaign, registered 38 cases against violators of the Kite Flying Act and seized over 2,000 kites and 300 pinnas of metal strings in January.

As per the police, the operations were conducted in the limits of different police stations across the district, where a total of 38 cases were registered against those who violated the Kite Flying Act.

The police claimed to have seized 2,664 kites, recovering more than 300 pinnas and reels of metal string and arrested the suspects involved in manufacturing the illegal material.

DPO Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf said that illegal kite flying is a killer sport and could not be allowed under any circumstances. He directed all SHOs to intensify intelligence-based operations against factories and warehouses manufacturing and storing illegal kites and strings. He added that a close watch should also be kept on the elements selling kites online, while parents should keep their underage children away from this sport.

MURDERED: Shahpur city police have arrested a man who allegedly killed his wife, in connivance with his two brothers, and attempted to portray her death as natural.

According to the police sources, the suspect, Fayyaz, a resident of Shahpur, had told locals that his wife Iram Bibi died of a heart attack. She was buried in the local graveyard after the funeral. However, police came to know through local informers that there was something suspicious about the matter.

Taking notice, the district police officer formed a special team, comprising SP investigation, Shahpur DSP and SHO city, which started an investigation.

After gathering information through local sources, the team included Fayyaz in the investigation. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have strangled his wife to death with the help of his brothers, Ahmed Sher and Fateh Sher. A case has been registered against the suspects.
