LAHORE: There has been significant progress regarding the election tribunals of the 2024 general elections.

The Election Commission has abolished the election tribunals of Punjab consisting of three serving judges.

The notifications say that the tribunals consisting of Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed, Justice Anwar Hussain and Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal have been withdrawn.

In light of a letter of the Lahore High Court, the tribunals of three serving judges have been denotified.

The cases pending in the three tribunals have been transferred to the tribunals of Justice (retd) Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa and Justice (retd) Rana Zahid Mahmood. A notification was also issued with the approval of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
