Details of various diplomatic processes to manage tensions with the US are being examined by Iran, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday, adding that Tehran hoped for results in the coming days.

Amid a military buildup by the US Navy near Iran, US President Donald Trump told reporters last week that Iran was “seriously talking” with Washington, hours after Tehran’s top security official Ali Larijani said on X that arrangements for negotiations were underway.

“Regional countries are the go-between for messages that have been exchanged. Various points have been exchanged and we are currently deciding and examining the details of each diplomatic process that we hope will bring results in coming days,” Baghaei said.

“This pertains to the process and framework of (talks),” he added.

Iran denies receiving Trump ‘ultimatum’ on negotiations

Iran denied it had received an ultimatum from President Trump to reach a nuclear agreement, after the US leader said he had given the Islamic republic a deadline to enter talks and threatened military action.

Asked at a news conference whether Iran had received a precise ultimatum from the US, Baghaei said Iran “is a country that always acts with honesty and seriousness in diplomatic processes, but it never accepts ultimatums. For that reason, such a statement cannot be confirmed”.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran was prepared for the resumption of talks with the US, but they should be fair and not include Iran’s defence capabilities.

Tehran arrests four foreigners for ‘participation in riots’

Iranian authorities have arrested four foreigners of undisclosed nationalities for “participation in riots”, state television reported Monday following a deadly protest movement last month.

“These individuals were apprehended during a raid on their hideout” in Tehran province, national television said, without specifying the date of the arrests.

“During a search of one suspect’s bag, four homemade stun grenades, used during the riots and unrest in the area, were discovered,” it added.
