LAKKI MARWAT: Speakers at an international conference on Tuesday stressed the need for improving the quality of research and strengthening international collaboration among universities.

They said such events provided researchers with opportunities to engage in in-depth discussions on the application of mathematical modeling and computational techniques in advanced materials such as nano-materials, composites and smart materials.

The Conference on Mathematical Insights and Computational Approaches in Advanced Materials and Engineering, 2026, opened on the main campus of the University of Lakki Marwat.

Director (Science and Technology) Dr Tazagul attended the event as the chief guest. The participants included academicians, researchers, scholars and students.

Key speakers included the varsity’s vice chancellor, Prof Aurangzeb, Prof Wali Khan Mashwani, Dean of Sciences, University of Science and Technology Kohat, Prof Dil Nawaz Khan Marwat, Head of Department of Mathematics, Islamia College University Peshawar, Dr Amir Sada Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Science and Technology Bannu and Dr Nasir Gul, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Computing, University of Science and Technology Bannu.

Speakers said that the discussions not only contributed to scientific advancement but also opened new avenues for collaboration between academia and industry. They also shed light on the enhancement of mathematical and computational methods for sustainable technologies, advanced engineering systems, and future instrumentation platforms.

“The University of Lakki Marwat upheld its distinguished academic tradition by successfully organising the second two-day International Conference (ICMICA), marking another significant milestone in its academic and research achievements,” VC Prof Aurangzeb said.

He said that the conference was aimed to promote scholarly dialogue among experts on contemporary research, innovative ideas, and the scientific and academic challenges faced at the global level.

The VC said that the scientific sessions were specifically designed to explore advanced solutions to complex problems in mathematics, computational science, advanced materials, and engineering.

He said the university’s core mission was to equip the youth of the underdeveloped region with cutting-edge scientific knowledge.

“The ICMICA conference is clear evidence that students of the district possess strong potential to compete at the international level,” he said.

He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to organise similar academic and research-oriented initiatives in the future. During the conference, participants presented research papers covering a wide range of contemporary scientific, economic, social and research-oriented topics.

In the concluding session, certificates were also distributed among the participants.
