PESHAWAR: The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) started legal actions against three private schools for opening the schools despite winter vacations.

The elementary and secondary education department has announced winter vacations from 1st January till 15th January in the summer zones and from December 22, 2025, till February 28th, 2026, in the winter zone.

On the directions of the managing director PSRA, Javed Iqbal, an inspection committee was constituted comprising Syed Faizan Ali Shah, assistant director (AD), and Muhammad Roshaan, assistant, KP-PSRA, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

The committee was tasked with inspecting private schools in Peshawar district to assess compliance with the winter vacations notification, following the receipt of complaints through various channels.

During the inspection, the committee visited the following private schools and found them operational during the notified winter vacation period including The Educators School Rahatabad Campus, Ittefaq Model School and College, Chamkani and The Knowledge School, Chamkani.

The aforementioned institutions were found opened in violation of the winter vacations notifications issued jointly by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and KP-PSRA vide notification dated 19-12-2025. The private schools were warned to implement the ibid notifications time and again but they did not pay any heed and continued to open the schools.

In view of the above violations, strict legal action shall be initiated against the schools concerned in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority (KP-PSRA).
