TAXILA: Upholding its tradition of promoting technological creativity and innovation,Hitec University Taxila organised its eighth annual technology festival, Robo Fiesta, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of robotics, artificial intelligence and engineering excellence.

Over 2,000 participants from over 35 educational institutions crammed into Heavy Industries Taxila Education City University on the concluding day of a three-day “Robo Fiesta 8.0” on Saturday.

The Robo Fiesta is an annual national robotics competition with the aim of promoting robotics and artificial intelligence research by offering a publicly appealing but formidable challenge.

The three-day event attracted students, young engineers and technology enthusiasts from across the country, providing them with a competitive platform to showcase innovation, practical problem-solving skills and futuristic ideas.

The event enabled the participants to showcase their technical, innovative, and competitive abilities, and besides the presence of food stalls, social and cultural shows added more splendour to the occasion. The students and faculty witnessed the modules, but the judgment was made by a panel of judges.

The event concluded with a grand award ceremony, where outstanding teams and projects were recognised for their innovation and technical merit. Organisers said Robo Fiesta offered an invaluable learning experience, enabling students to compete, collaborate and gain exposure to cutting-edge technological trends.

They added that Robo Fiesta has evolved beyond a conventional technology festival into a celebration of young minds, bright ideas and Pakistan’s technological future.

The event also projected a positive and modern image of the country, reaching a wide audience nationally and internationally through social media platforms. Hitec University Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. S Kamran Afaq while speaking at the concluding session, stated that the university has been conducting various events encompassing co-curricular and extra-curricular activities ever since its inception.

“As part of its efforts to promote Robotics in Pakistan, the university has been holding the event for eight consecutive year,” he added.

He was of the view that the last two decades have seen tremendous activity in the field of robotics. “Our students get a morale boost through their participation in this event and can set high aims for themselves, such as participating in world-class events like RoboCup.” Mr Afaq added.
