SAHIWAL: A young woman was allegedly gang-raped by her social media friend and his accomplice who lured her to Sahiwal from Tandlianwala by the prospect of a job.

A resident of Bherwana village (Tandlianwala), the woman developed acquaintance with a Sahiwal-based known social media influencer. Their online interaction developed into a friendship, during which the accused promised her employment through his political connections with the ruling party.

The woman was invited to Sahiwal for a meeting on Thursday evening. Upon her arrival, the accused reportedly picked her up in a car and took her to a house, where she was served a soft drink allegedly laced with intoxicants. She was then subjected to sexual assault by the accused and his accomplice.

The following morning, the woman was dropped at the General Bus Stand where she was allegedly threatened with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident.

The woman later reported the matter to police.

On her complaint, Ghala Mandi police registered a case against the accused who is at large.
