KARACHI, June 6: A young man shot dead his father in the DHA area Tuesday allegedly for divorcing his mother. “The young man Kamran, 24, barged into his father’s real estate shop in Badar Commercial and shot him repeatedly before fleeing,” Darakshan ASP Sohail Chatta said. The victim breathed his last before he could have been shifted to the hospital, police said.

According to initial information, Kifayat Husain, 50, divorced his wife after a serious altercation concerning monetary matters late Monday night at their Badar Commercial house.

Learning about the divorce, Kamran and his two maternal uncles -- Shiraz and Amjad -- made hectic efforts for a patchup but all their efforts failed when a Maulvi sahib they consulted told them that re-union between the two was not possible.

Following the killing, police arrested Shiraz from house and were questioning him.

Police might book Shiraz for instigating Kamran to kill his father, said a police official of Darakshan.
