TOBA TEK SINGH, June 4: A TMA team on Sunday recovered dead chickens from a poultry shop which were being sold to customers. The team, headed by TMO Saleem Khan, comprised of veterinary doctor Mushtaq Ahmad, chief officer Chaudhry Azizur Rehman and health sub-committee chairman Muhammad Jamil got a tip-off that the dead bird’s meat was being sold at the shop.

Later, on the information provided by the arrested shopkeeper, Abid, the team also raided a poultry farm at Chak 392-JB, Chatala, and recovered 80 dead birds, being transported to the same shop.

Police have also arrested the poultry farm owner, Tahir, and registered separate cases under section 3/6 of the Food Stuff Control Act and sections 270 and 273 of the PPC.

BID FOILED: Citizens foiled a bid to kidnap two women from a shopping centre at Gojra on Sunday.

Reports said Kaneezan Bibi and Zainab Bibi had come to Gojra for shopping from Chak 47-GB of Tarkhani (Samundri). When they were on Quaid Azam Road, Khadim Hussain along with an unidentified accomplice tried to kidnap them.

As the two women raised an alarm, some passersby rushed to the spot and rescue them from the accused who before fleeing opened indiscriminate fire. However, no one got hurt.

Meanwhile, three dacoits snatched Rs45,000 from a trader at Gojra.

Tahir Niaz was returning to his shop after withdrawing the amount from a bank. When he reached near railway underpass, three men on two motorcycles intercepted him and snatched the amount on gun point.

BODY FOUND: Body of an unidentified woman was recovered on Sunday from a minor canal near Chak 517-GB.

The head, legs and arms of the deceased woman had been amputated.

Rajana police have registered a case.
