KARACHI, June 4: The Clifton Cantonment Board has announced that the property, water & conservancy taxes will not be increased for the next three years. The decision was taken in view of residents8217f demand, the chief executive officer of the Clifton Cantonment Board Iftikahar Mir said while attending a meeting of the Defence Associations Coordination Committee, according to the DACC press release issued here on Sunday. Welcoming the move, the secretary general of the DACC Aziz Suharwardy asked the CCB to improve civic services in less developed areas of DHA such Phase V, Phase VI and Seaview where street lights were unserviceable, water supply was poor, and roads in dilapidated condition.

He also asked for bringing transparency by amending rules of building plans to eliminate chances of corruption. The press release said that Iftikhar Mir informed the meeting that in spite of the decision of not increasing taxes, the revenue would be increased by bringing those evading taxes into the tax net and plugging leakages through increased use of information technology.
