BAHAWALNAGAR: A man was arrested for allegedly throwing acid on his wife in Shehar Farid on Wednesday on suspicion of bad character.
Police said that Farooq of Manghir Sharif married Sumaira of the same area 19 years ago and the couple had six children.
Police said that over the past year, Farooq’s attitude towards his wife changed and he started to fight and argue with her and doubted her character.
Police said that two days ago, Samaira along with her children moved to her brother-in-law Muhammad Ahmad’s house, when her husband once again accused her of bad character and tortured her.
Police claimed that Farooq entered his brother’s house on Tuesday, thrashed his wife and threw acid on her face and fled while threatening her with dire consequences.
The victim was rushed to the DHQ Hhospital where she was undergoing treatment. Police booked the suspect and arrested him when he was trying to flee from the town.
DRUG PUSHERS ARRESTED: The Chishtian Saddar police claimed to have arrested three young women and allegedly seized contraband from their custody in three different incidents on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesperson, police were on their routine patrol in the Mari Shuq Ilahi area when they received a tip-off that a young girl was waiting for a ride at a bus stop and had drugs in her possession. Police claimed that a team, headed by SI Abdul Qadir of police lines and accompanied by lady constables, raided the site and overpowered the woman.
On searching her, the police claimed to have found a packet of charas weighing 1.2kg.
In another incident, the Saddar police held another alleged drug pusher, identified as Lubna Bibi of Riaz Colony in Haroonabad, at Chak Abdullah and claimed to have seize 550 grams of ice from her.
In the third incident, Shazia Bibi of Kamaliya was arrested from Chak 9 Gajyani allegedly with 1.05kg heroin by the Saddar police.
The trio were arrested in three different cases registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997.
