BAJAUR: Authorities on Wednesday declared another area as cleared of terrorists in Nawagai tehsil, prompting the district administration to permit its residents to return to their homes.

After the declaration of Shah Khani village as terrorist-free by the security forces as a result of successful operation, the administration informed residents that they can return to their homes, said a notification.

According to the notification posted on the official Facebook page of deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, the residents of Shah Khani area, who had vacated their homes prior to the operation, could return to their native village anytime.

The statement said that the administration was making all-out efforts to allow the residents of other areas to return to their homes as soon as their localities were cleared of terrorists.

Meanwhile, the residents, who had been displaced from their homes a couple of weeks ago, welcomed the development.

Talking to Dawn, several residents of Shah Khani, a hilly village of Nawagai tehsil, said that scores of displaced families had started returning to their homes after the announcement of the ‘successful’ operation against terrorists.
