KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has appreciated the National Electronic Complex of Pakistan (NECOP) in developing indigenous modern defence technologies, including the advanced ‘Drone Jamming Gun’.

According to a press release, Dr Sajid Baloch, the director general of the NECOP, presented the ‘Drone Jamming Gun’ to the governor.

Media reports said the gun, named Safrah, can intercept kamikaze drones from a distance of 1.5 kilometres, and disable them and their remote control. The gun was exhibited at the Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference at Karachi Expo Centre.

The governor, the press release said, was informed that the state-of-the-art device, equipped with cutting-edge technology, serves as a significant defensive and security tool that will further strengthen and enhance the overall security framework.

Mr Tessori appreciated NECOP’s role and said that the adoption of advanced systems in line with national security requirements has become indispensable.

He added that such local institutions are playing a vital role in advancing Pakistan’s journey toward defence self-reliance.

During the briefing, Dr Baloch informed the governor that this technology is in high demand globally, and remains competitive and distinguished in both quality and cost when compared with similar products from other countries.
