LAHORE, June 1: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) with 14 points clinched cadet title of Chief Minister Cup national boxing championship while Sindh came from behind to lift the junior trophy at the Attiq Stadium on Wednesday night.

KPT, however, faced tough resistance from Sindh who obtained 12 points for second place. Balochistan with eight points finish third.

Both KPT and Sindh had claimed three gold medals each but the portmen have two silvers and one bronze as compared to three bronze for Sindh.

The most exciting bout of the night was fought between Aurangzaib of KPT and Punjab’s Usman Butt which ended in favour of the former 17-15. The fight was decided in the last round.

Riaz Cheena of Sindh registered an upset when he outclassed Zahid Saleem of KPT with a clear margin 10-1. Riaz's punching was more accurate that enabled him to emerge victorious.

In the junior section, Sindh with one gold, two silver and five bronze medals made 12 points to lift the trophy while Punjab with one gold, two silver and four bronze medals achieved the second place.

KPT, who were leading till Tuesday three secured third position, managing 10 points, having won three gold and one bronze medal.

60 kgs: Riaz Cheena (Sindh) bt Zahid Saleem (KPT) 10-1.
