Loadshedding sparks protest

LAKKI MARWAT, May 25: Hundreds of residents of lower Marwat staged a sit-in outside the office of the deputy manager (operation), Peshawar Electricity Supply Company, and blocked Lakki-Mianwali road to protest against frequent power breakdowns and low voltage in their area.

The protestors, led by the Awami National Party’s local leader Imranullah Marwat and carrying banners, were raising slogans against the area officials of Pesco.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Marwat and others held the Pesco officials responsible for the power-related problems in the district.

“The Pesco employees use electricity through illegal means and also extend the illegal facility to their neighbours”, they alleged.
