KARACHI, May 25: The city government, in cooperation with the Ehtesab Bureau, is organising a seminar on “Establishment of a Corruption Free Local Government” at Al-Markaz Islami, Federal B Area, on May 30.

The seminar will have three sessions with the City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, as the chief guest at the first session.

The second session will be chaired by the Naib Nazim, Nasreen Jalil, while the Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, will be the chief guest at the concluding session.

The Director General, Accountability Bureau, Sindh Maj-Gen Mukhtar Ahmed, will specially address the third session. The seminar will be addressed by prominent scholars and intellectuals including Mashkoor Usmani, Qaisar Bengali, Rafiq Jarwar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Haq Nawaz, Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, town nazims Wasey Jalil, Osama Qadri, Arif Khan Advocate, Abdul Qadir Memon, Khalid Mahmood Soomro, Mumtazur Rehman, Tasneem Siddiqi, Brig Iftekhar Haider and Saleh Farooqi.

Ms Shamim Kazmi, Ghazi Salahuddin, Abdul Rahim Moosavi and Col Razaq Zia will formulate the seminar’s recommendations.

Besides presentation of papers with regard to problems of various sections, proposals will also be framed for elimination of corruption from government organizations.

IT training: The city government has arranged a training programme for computer operators to be appointed at union councils.

The city government’s IT department on the directive of City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, had provided computers to all 178 UCs of the city for keeping records of births and deaths in their respective localities.—APP/PPI
