KARACHI: A delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) called on Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon at his office in Karachi.

The delegation comprised David Margonsztern, Syed Umar Ali Shah, Hameed Khan, Francois Louis-Guillaume, Ahsan Paracha and Wenjing Pu, while Secretary Transport and Mass Transit Asad Zamin and CEO TransKarachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro were also present.

The delegation was briefed on the ongoing construction activities under Lot One and Lot Two of the Red Line.

Representatives of the ADB described the project as crucial for meeting Karachi’s transport needs and assured full financial and technical support for its timely and high-quality completion.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Memon, who also holds the transport portfolio, said the Red Line was a priority project of the Sindh government which would benefit millions of citizens on a daily basis.

He directed all concerned agencies to remain in close coordination and enhance mutual cooperation in order to expedite progress on the project.

He further stated that, upon completion, the project would enable citizens to travel safely, quickly and at an affordable cost, while greatly improving the city’s traffic system.

The meeting concluded with a consensus that all parties would adopt a common strategy to ensure the Red Line’s timely completion.
