KARACHI, May 24: A high-level meeting, presided over by Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan, on Wednesday decided to build judicial complex at 35 acres near Civic Center.

The 142 different courts of the city would then be shifted to this judicial complex.

The meeting took several decisions with regard to improving judicial infrastructure and dispensing justice to the people in different districts of the province.

Governor Ibad directed the City Government of Karachi to prepare Master Plan of the city keeping in view the future requirements of judiciary. He also asked for allocating land for constructing judicial academy.

He said that such steps were aimed at facilitating the judiciary to dispense immediate and inexpensive justice to the people.

The Chief Justice viewed that this task could be achieved by facilitating the judiciary at the grass-root level.

The AG presented a detailed report with regard to infrastructure requirements of the judiciary in different districts. He termed the proposed construction of judicial complex near Civic Center a historical step.

The meeting also reviewed the proposals of building judicial complexes at Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Kambar, Larkana, Tando Adam, Umerkot, Kashmore and other districts.

It noted that such complexes would greatly facilitate the poor people. The plan also includes provision of residential facilities to the judges and other staff.
