GWADAR: The University of Turbat, in collaboration with the Progressive Climate Foundation and the student-led Green Youth Movement Club, hosted an awareness session and a tree plantation drive on Friday to address climate change, water sanitation, and waste management.

The event brought together students and faculty to promote environmental stewardship on campus. Keynote speakers emphasised the need for youth-led climate action and the adoption of eco-friendly practices.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness and empower students to take leadership roles in environmental sustainability.

Speakers included GYM Club Focal Person Jeand Baloch; PCF District Coordinator Iqra Latif ; PCF member Sharaf Abdul Majeed; GYM Club Captain Saddo Ahmed Ali and Vice-Captain Fahad Shabbir. The session concluded with participants planting trees on campus.

University of Turbat Vice Chancellor Dr Gul Hasan praised the organisers, including Director of Student Affairs Chakar Hyder and the teams from both organisations.

He said hosting such events reflects the university’s commitment to its national responsibilities and “to contributing toward the country’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”.

“The University of Turbat will continue to encourage and support programs that engage youth in environmental stewardship, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to building a greener and climate-resilient society,” Mr Hasan said.
