ISLAMABAD: Experienced pro Aqeel Khan beat Mudassir Murtaza in the quarter-final of the Pakistan Independence Day National Ranking Tennis Tournament here at the PTF Complex on Tuesday.

Aqeel won the men’s singles match 7-5, 6-3 to make the last-four stage.

In other matches of the same category, Yousuf Khalil, Bark­atullah and Muzammil Murtaza won to qualify for the semi-finals.

Women’s singles: Ushna Suhail bt Romaisa Malik 6-2, 6-1; Noor Malik bt Shandana Rabi 6-0, 6-0; Soha Ali bt Zunaisha Noor 6-1 — retired; Sheeza Sajid bt Shimza Naz 7-6(4), 7-5

Meanwhile, Ushna Suhail, Noor Malik, Soha Ali and Sheeza Sajid clinched their respective women’s singles quarter-finals.
