KARACHI, May 23: The Passport Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency arrested on Sunday two employees of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees for their alleged involvement in a human smuggling racket.

Changez Khan, son of David Sardar Khan, and Mohammed Nawaz Shahid were intercepted at the Jinnah Terminal of the Qauid-i-Azam International Airport where they had reached along with three intending illegal jobseekers to board an Italy-bound flight. Four family members of Changez Khan also accompanied with them.

Deputy Director of the Passport Circle Mohammed Malick told Dawn that the two agents received Rs150,000 each from the intending illegal jobseekers for taking them to Italy. “They showed the three jobseekers as badminton players through fake documents and managed to obtain their visas for Italy,” he added.

The official said that a case had been registered against the two suspected human smugglers and intending illegal jobseekers and the investigation was underway.
