LAHORE: The Chuhng police on Friday filed a report before an anti-terrorism court for cancellation of a case against Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other leaders of the PML-N for an attack on a police team outside the office of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in 2020.

The police report said allegations of stone-pelting and violence against CM Maryam and others could not be established. It asked the court to approve cancellation of the FIR registered on the complaint of a deputy director of the NAB.

Judge Arshad Javed adjourned the matter till Aug 29.

In this case, Maryam, prime minister’s adviser Rana Sanaullah and 58 party workers were nominated. Initially, the police included the offences under the PPC but later added an offence under Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act 1997.

The accused allegedly threw stones at the police during Maryam’s appearance at the NAB office in a case related to illegal acquisition of land in Raiwind.
