ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a flag hoisting ceremony attended by Chief Justice Mohammad Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Mohammad Asif, Justice Mohammad Azam Khan, members of the IHC Bar Association, and district officials.

After the flag was raised, the Chief Justice along with other judges planted saplings on the court premises.

In his address, Chief Justice Dogar described Independence Day as an occasion of great importance in the lives of independent nations, stressing that true love for the homeland comes from selfless service to the country and its people. Praising the armed forces, he said that any hostile designs from the neighboring country were met with a vigorous response, likening Pakistan’s defense to a “molten iron wall.”

He added that public unity and support for the military were unwavering, and reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to safeguarding constitutional institutions.

“May Allah Almighty grant us grace in these 78 years, strengthen our institutions, and guide us in serving the nation,” he prayed.

Separately, the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) also held an Independence Day ceremony where Chairman retired Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui hoisted the national flag.
