LAHORE: Punjab police chief Dr Usman Anwar has appreciated the performance of the senior officers of the Crime Control Department (CCD) and awarded them appreciation letters during a ceremony held at the Central Police Office here on Friday.

A spokesperson for the Punjab police said the efforts of the CCD officers were commended in the fulfillment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Safe Punjab Vision.

He said a significant decrease in the crime rate has been observed across the province, including Lahore, due to the outstanding performance and efforts of the CCD and its officers.

Appreciation letters were awarded to Punjab Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha, DIG CCD Umar Farooq Salamat, DIG CCD Waqas ul Hassan, SSP Admin Tanveer Hussain Tunio, Regional Officer (RO) Gujranwala Mansoor Aman, SSP CCD Lahore Aftab Phulrwan, SP Legal Headquarters Rana Ibad Ahmad Khan,

RO CCD Multan Kamran Amir Khan, SP CCD Lahore Shahmeer Ahmad.

The IG said the Crime Control Department had shown remarkable performance in suppressing heinous crimes within a short time. He directed the officers to establish a sustainable database of organised criminals, gangs, and proclaimed offenders.

Norwegian team: A delegation of Norwegian police met Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar on Friday and discussed measures taken by the Punjab Police for the security of foreign nationals.

The delegation included Norwegian Police Deputy Chief Ketil Haukass, Norwegian Police Chief Superintendent Torkjeld Jevne, newly-appointed Nordic Liaison Officer Borge Enoksen, outgoing Nordic Liaison Officer Per Martin Bjartan, and Adviser to the Nordic Liaison Officer at the Norwegian Embassy, Sagheer Afzal.

The IGP said ensuring the security of foreign nationals, including those from Norway, was among the top priorities of Punjab Police. Special Protection Unit had been diligently performing security duties for foreign nationals across the province.

It is worth mentioning that a close cooperation and strong ties exist between Punjab Police and Norwegian Police for the elimination of international organised crime.

Training exchange was also discussed during the meeting to tackle the growing challenges of cybercrime and digital fraud. The two sides agreed on enhancing mutual cooperation.

The IG presented the delegation head with a special book titled ‘Thanay Punjab De’.
