KARACHI: The Organic Meat Company Ltd (TOMCL) has become the first meat processing and exporting firm from Pakistan to qualify for direct exports to Carrefour Majid Al Futtaim Hypermarkets (LLC-MAF) across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In a stock filing on Thursday, TOMCL announced it had successfully passed Carrefour’s comprehensive audit covering system integrity, hygiene, and operational excellence, scoring 95pc.

The company stated that this milestone is expected to pave the way for increased export volumes, introduction of premium product lines in high-value retail segments, enhanced international brand visibility, and deeper market penetration across the UAE’s retail and foodservice sectors.

Changan launches new variants

Meanwhile, Master Changan Motors Ltd (MCML) has launched upgraded variants of two of its most popular models — the Karvaan and the Sherpa — at an event held in Lahore. The company has sold over 25,000 units of the Karvaan over the past five years, securing a 52pc share in the 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment.

The newly launched Karvaan Power Plus UG, priced at Rs3.299 million, features a significant upgrade in engine capacity. It now comes equipped with a more powerful 1.2L engine, replacing the previous 1.0L unit. According to the company, the new variant offers 44pc more horsepower along with improved fuel efficiency.
