Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand has said the government’s thoughts are with the two captives whose emaciated images were released from Gaza, along with others still held in the enclave, Al Jazeera reports.

“The harrowing images of Israeli hostages held in captivity by Hamas are a stark reminder of the horrors they have endured for over 660 days. The immediate release of all hostages from Gaza is imperative,” she wrote in a post on X.

“Canada will continue to demand the unconditional release of every hostage, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, a sustainable ceasefire, and the exclusion of Hamas from any role in the future governance of Palestine.”
