KARACHI: Top seed Muzammil Murtaza kept his winning momentum as he cruised into the men’s semi-finals of the second KC Jinko Solar Open National Tennis Championship here at the Karachi Club on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Muzammil secured a straight-sets victory over Abdullah Adnan, 7-5, 6-1. Mohammad Abid also reached the last-four satge but needed three sets to overcome Yousuf Khàlil in a tightly contested match, winning 6-1, 6-7, 7-6.

The women’s semi-final saw Romaisa Malik advance to the final after defeating Bismal Zia 7-5, 6-3.

Juniors Under 18 Singles quarterfinals featured several competitive matches. Hazik Aasim staged a comeback to beat Haziq Areejo 1-6, 6-2, 7-5. Hamza Roman also won a three-set battle against Nabeel Qayum, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2. Ahtesham Humiyun, the reigning U-18 champion, defeated Muzammil Bhand 6-3, 6-3.

Girls Under 18 doubles (semi-finals): Eschelle Asif/Bismal Zia bt Dua Yousuf/Zohha Imad 6-1, 6-0.

Girls Under 14 (quarter-finals): Inaya Uzair bt Zainab Afnan 6-4 (retired).
