KARACHI, May 17: Pakistan Muslim League (Ulema Mashaikh wing) President Dr Mohammad Khalid Raza, Pir Zakori Sharif, said on Wednesday that those involved in the Nishtar Park blast be arrested at the earliest and awarded exemplary punishment.

Pir Zakori Sharif, who arrived here on Wednesday with secretary of the wing, Pir Syed Chriaghuddin Shah, was speaking at a press conference at the PML Secretariat in KDA Scheme-1 where he also announced nomination of office-bearers of PML(UMW) Karachi Zone and its provincial convening committee.

Referring to internal and external challenges being faced by the country Pir Zakori Sharif said enemies of Islam and country were taking full advantage of our disunity. “We are encircled by difficulties because we have forgotten the golden principles of unity, faith and discipline”.

He also spoke about the situation prevailing in South Waziristan, Wana and Balochistan and stressed the need for holding negotiations to find a solution of the problem as use of force was not the solution of any problem and use of force only generates hatred against each other.

Commenting on the “charter of democracy”, he said people had seen democracy during Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto’s tenures. He said that people could not be hoodwinked by them as it was due to their short-sighted approach which caused setback to the democratic process in the country.

In reply to a question, Pir Syed Chiraghuddin Shah said Ulema Wing was the vanguard of PML and its organization would be completed by July in all four provinces. He said their wing would be helpful in enforcement of Shariat in the country.

The following were nominated office bearers for the ulema wing for Karachi Zone: President - Pir Syed Liaquat Ali Shah Naqshbandi, Secretary Gen -- Haji Misal Khan, Joint Secretary -- Qari Ghulam Akbar, secretary Information Mohammad Mukhtar and finance secretary –- Maulana Mufti Shabbir Ahmad Usmani.

The provincial convening committee was led by Prof Al-Haj Syed Hasan Mehmood and nine deputy conveners who would complete organization within a month.

Pir Zakori Sharif said that the PML government was striving for projection of enlightened and moderate Islam in the country.
