LARKANA: Members of literati showered praise on poet, short story writer and novelist Ahmed Ali Sabir at a literary session organised in recognition of his literary contributions at Arts Council of Pakistan Larkana on Monday.

Samee Sajid Junejo, Prof Rasheed Khan Wahi, Advocate Abdul Sattar Hulio, former director of Primary Schools Larkana, Gul Sher Soomro and others said at the event at Bhitai Literary Hall that Ahmed Ali Sabir was a distinguished poet of Sindh who had excelled not only in poetry but also in the fields of storytelling and novel writing.

They said that Sabir was not just a person but a literary institution embodied.

Sindhi Adabi Sangat Larkana cha­pter’s secretary, Essa Memon, said that while many people remained voiceless, unable to express themselves with clarity, Sabir was among the fortunate ones who possessed gift of the gab adorned with creativity.

He said that Sabir was not only an eloquent speaker but was also a dominant presence on stage and commended him for maintaining balance and connecting with all generations.

Short story writer and translator, Prof Jahangir Abbasi, said that Sabir was a prominent Sindhi poet, novelist, and writer who had not only guided himself to success but also paved the way for his children. More than 12 of his books were yet to be published, he said, adding that he was an unparalleled artist and uncrowned king of the stage.

Sabir said he was lucky to have mentors like Sarkash Sindhi and Sain Sarmad Chandio.

Researcher, critic, and writer Dr Badar Dhamraho, who presided over the program, praised chairman of the literature department of the Arts Council for organising the session to recognise the literary services of Sabir.

Akhtar Piya, chairman of the Literature Department, welcomed participants and presented ‘Recognition Award’ to Ahmed Ali Sabir for his literary contributions.
