SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Unidentified assailants shot dead a physician in the Karikot Bazaar of Wana here on Tuesday, the police said.

The assailants, wearing masks, opened fire on Dr Zafar Jan Wazir, and fled the scene after the attack.

DSP Wana Asghar Ali Shah confirmed the incident and said that an investigation had been launched. “We are examining all possible angles,” he added.

The deceased’s family expressed shock over the killing, stating they had no personal enmity or ongoing dispute with anyone.

The police disclosed that the family had so far refrained from filing an official report or lodging an FIR.
