KARACHI: The Zionist state of Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza where it has killed thousands of people, including women and children, and it is expected to continue doing so, alongside its ongoing occupation of Palestinian land, as part of its broader vision to establish a so-called “Greater Israel”.

This was the concerted view expressed in a talk titled “The Holocaust of Our Times: Genocide and the Great Game”, where the speakers warned that amid the escalating aggression by Israel and other western powers, particularly against the Muslim states, the only way for these nations to ensure their survival is by becoming militarily powerful.

The talk was delivered by journalists Wusatullah Khan and Zarrar Khuhro at The Second Floor (T2F).

They discussed Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, condemned the “shameful” response of western countries and mainstream international media and criticised the “hypocritical” stance of the Muslim states that, despite public statements, have failed to take any concrete steps to halt the mass killing of innocent civilians in Gaza.

Mr Khuhro said Israel is unlikely to stop its actions against Palestinians and will persist in its “china-cutting” strategy to seize further land. More alarmingly, he added, it won’t stop at Palestine alone. “Israel has kept its borders undefined,” he said and warned that other countries in the region would eventually face the similar aggression.

In reply to a comment from the audience that if Palestinians had accepted the resolutions for land partition, things might have been different from what they are, Mr Khuhro said it would have made little difference because Israel would not have stopped anyway.

Wusatullah Khan, citing an article published in The Times of Israel, said that the Zionist project envisions Israel as a “regional superpower”, one that surrounding nations must fear, whether or not they respect it. He added that for Israelis, particularly hardline Zionists, the West Bank, referred to in religious texts as “Judea and Samaria”, is sacred Biblical territory, which they are determined to occupy regardless of any law.

Mr Khuhro was of the view that in the face of growing aggression by Israel and other western powers, especially against the Muslim states, the latter can keep themselves safe only by becoming militarily strong.

“Get as much power as you can,” he said and suggested boosting military strength by amassing sophisticated and advanced weapons as only power can challenge power.
