PESHAWAR: Students of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II got the top three positions in the Secondary School Certificate annual examination results declared by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar, on Monday.

The results were announced at a ceremony with minister for elementary and secondary education Faisal Tarakai as the chief guest.

Fatima Jugnu of Peshawar Model Girls High School-II, Dalazak Road, secured the top position in the overall and science group results by scoring 1,180 marks out of 1,200.

The second position went to Sara Imran, also from the same school, with 1,178 marks. The third position was shared by three girls from the same school, including Yusra, Shumaila, and Ainna Shoaib with 1,176 marks.

In the humanities group, Azam Jan from Government Higher Secondary School, Sherpao Charsadda, obtained 1,101 marks to clinch the top position. Mohammad Shoaib of Usmania

Children Academy, Nothia Peshawar, scored 1,097 marks and stood second, while Daniyal Iqbal of the same school bagged 1,088 marks and secured third position.

Over 193,000 candidates from Peshawar, Charsadda, Upper and Lower Chitral, Khyber, and Mohmand districts appeared in the exams. The pass percentage for grade-9 stood at 98.8 per cent, while grade-10 had a pass rate of 83.5pc.

Girls performed better than boys in both regular and private categories, particularly in the science stream.

Acting chairman BISE Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud and controller of examinations Inamullah Shah congratulated the students, teachers, and supporting departments for the successful conduct of exams and timely compilation of results.

They praised the consistent efforts of the staff, IT cell, and secrecy wing for ensuring smooth operations. Successful students were awarded certificates and shields at the ceremony.
