MARDAN: The residents of Lundkhwar, a remote area, have demanded of the relevant officials to take effective measures against the increasing incidents of robbery and thefts in their locality.

Mohammad Ikram, a resident, told Dawn that a burglary took place at his house in broad daylight five days ago.

He said unknown thieves broke the main gate of his locked house and made away with Rs200,000 cash, 7.5 tolas of gold jewellery, and two pistols. Ikram said his family was away to attend a religious ceremony.

“Upon returning, we found the main gate’s lock broken and the house completely ransacked.” He said he promptly called the police.

The police have taken several suspected individuals into custody for questioning.

An FIR has been registered against unknown suspects, and the case is being investigated from multiple angles.

SHO Lundkhwar police station Zakir Khan said: “We have formed two to three special teams that are actively working to trace the accused. The real perpetrators will soon be exposed, and no innocent person will be wrongfully detained.” In this regard, the police and local administration have urged citizens to ensure full security of their homes during events such as funerals, celebrations, or prolonged absences. Good and bad elements always exist in society, so it is essential to take proper precautions to safeguard valuable belongings.
