LAKKI MARWAT: A woman was killed by her son along with an accomplice on the Indus Highway near Nar Khuda Bakhash area of Lakki Marwat on Sunday.

Police said Shakila Bibi, 34, received critical bullet injuries and died instantly. They said the attackers fled the scene on a motorcycle.

They cited a family dispute as the reason behind the murder and said the body was transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Serai Naurang, for medico-legal formalities.

The police registered a case against the suspected killers and began an investigation.

Separately, a man was murdered over a land dispute in Tajazai area of Lakki. Police said Gul Mehboob opened fire on Shahabuddin, 34, killing him on the spot.

A case was registered against the killer and investigation is underway.

JI PROTESTS PRICE HIKE: Lakki chapter of Jamat-i-Islami held a demonstration in Serai Naurang town on Sunday to protest inflation, power outages and increase in prices of petroleum products and sugar.

Led by JI’s district emir Mufti Irfanullah, the protesters marched on the road in Naurang city and converged at Khatm-i-Nabuwat Chowk. They were holding party flags and banners highlighting their demands.

Mufti Irfan, Abdul Samad Khan, Shamsul Arif and other speakers said the unbearable inflation had put people in misery.

“The continuous surge in prices of oil commodities and excessive electric loadshedding has increased the sufferings of citizens,” he said.
