SWABI: Two officials of excise department, including an inspector, were killed and three other personnel were injured when their official vehicle overturned on Peshawar Islamabad Motorway, while chasing a suspicious car on Saturday, said Rescue 1122 officials.
The officials said that the excise officials had started chasing a car on the motorway after its driver ignored a signal to stop near Mardan interchange.
The excise vehicle overturned as they reached the Swabi interchange. As a result, inspector Uzair Mohammad, 39, was killed on the spot, while his four colleagues were injured.
A Rescue 1122 press release said that soon after the incident, the Rescue Swabi medical team reached the spot and provided first aid to the injured. Later, they shifted the dead and the injured officials to Bacha Khan Hospital, where the injured excise driver, Qamar Zaman, succumbed to his injuries.
The injured officials were identified as Salar Khan, 19, Mansoor Khan, 29, and Muhammad Ijaz, 23.
TWO TERMINATED: Deputy Commissioner Swabi Nasrullah Khan dismissed two officials of the DC office, an assistant and a peon, from their jobs after forgery was established during the inquiry conducted against them that they had presented fake educational certificates to get promotion, an official said.
