KOHAT: Unidentified highwaymen looted Rs7.5 million from four people at gunpoint, who were going to their homes in Shakardarra on Saturday night after selling placer gold in Kohat, which is being excavated from the River Indus, the police said.

The looted passengers, Mohammad Kamran, Tanveer Anjum, Etebar Shah, and Mohammad Awais told the police that they stopped their car after a signal from a torch and thought that they were police.

But, as soon as they halted, armed persons appeared, and surrounded their car asking them to hand over cash, and also looted four costly mobile phones from them.

The police registered the case and launched investigations.

Meanwhile, a woman, who had claimed her husband died by suicide in the FIR of the incident, turned out to be the murderer.

The incident occurred on June 15.

The police arrested the woman, who said during interrogation that she had killed her husband along with two unknown accomplices.

The police booked the woman under sections 302, and 324 of Pakistan Penal Code and handed her over to the investigation branch.
