MULTAN, May 14: Work on the first public sector modern bus terminal will be completed by June 30 to offer quality services to the commuters.

This was said by city district nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar here on Sunday.

“Some 95 per cent work on the Rs90 million project, first of its kind in Pakistan, has been completed,” the nazim said during a visit to the site, located adjacent to the general bus stand near the underpass.

The bus terminal spreading over an area of 10 acres will have the facilities of air-conditioning system, separate lanes for AC and non-AC coaches, four waiting halls, video cameras for security purpose, a reception counter, a public address system, an information centre, a post office, an office of the Tourism Development Corporation Punjab, cargo service, a two-star restaurant, a mosque, a computerised toll plaza and a park.

The nazim said about 100 people had been recruited to ensure cleanliness of the terminal and to keep its park green.

RICKSHAWS: Four-stroke CNG rickshaw will be launched in the local market in June this year.

This was stated by a manufacturing company representative, Haji Younas, at a ceremony held here on Sunday where a model of the three-wheeler was also put on display.

The ceremony was presided over by federal minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan while district nazim Faisal Mukhtar was the guest of honour.

CNG rickshaws would also be able to run on petrol, company officials said, adding initially they would launch the product with a capacity to manufacture 100 rickshaws per day that would be enhanced later.—APP
