LAHORE: The Punjab government accelerated the process of establishing Water and Sanitation Agencies (Wasas) across 10 districts of the province on Friday.

The Housing Department has issued a notification to form District Transition Committees responsible for overseeing the transfer of staff and assets from existing municipal corporations to the newly-formed Wasa entities.

According to Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal, each committee will be convened by the respective district’s administrator of the municipal corporation, while other members will include the representative of the district administration, the relevant managing director of Wasa, the chief officer of the municipal corporation, and the executive engineer.

The committees have been tasked with preparing comprehensive lists of personnel, water supply infrastructure, sanitation, and drainage-related assets, ensuring their timely transfer to the newly established Wasa agencies. The notification further states that the new Wasa entities will be provided with office space, staff, and essential logistics support to begin administrative operations without delay.

Transferred: The Punjab government on Friday transferred Governor’s Secretariat special secretary Kausar Khan and posted her as Punjab Transport Company chief executive officer on a deputation basis in pursuant to the approval of the Punjab cabinet.

Punjab Cooperative Societies Registrar Mehtab Waseem Azhar has been relieved of additional charge of the PTC CEO.
