GUJAR KHAN: Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that a hospital under the auspices of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) is going to be established in Gujar Khan tehsil.
He said the technical team has started visiting the area to select a suitable site for the construction of a state-of-the-art hospital for the treatment of kidney diseases.
While talking to Dawn, Raja Pervez Ashraf said that this hospital would be established in Gujar Khan at a cost of Rs1 billion, allocated by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari out of his federal grants.
The PPP stalwart said that his party believes in the provision of basic facilities at the doorsteps of the masses, and it was his party that launched unprecedented schemes of village electrification, construction of road infrastructure and provision of sui gas to the areas around oil and gas fields, including Gujar Khan tehsil, during all tenures of PPP governments led by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.
He said that this was the philosophy and manifesto of the PPP, and the establishment of the world-renowned SIUT hospital in Gujar Khan tehsil would provide immense relief to kidney patients belonging to Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock districts and AJ&K.
Raja Pervez Ashraf said that different sites have been visited by the expert team comprising Dr Gauhar Sultan and Engineer Imran Danish, who are to finalise the suitable location for the project in Gujar Khan tehsil, Mr Ashraf said.
